Praying for Leaders

Prayer Focus – Our Pastors and Leaders

22 Sep 2021, by Renee Sanford in Newsletter

Our Father God blesses us with Godly leadership in our church! Day by day Pastor Nate and Pastor Liz follow Jesus. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they lead us in our spiritual journeys.

Our church elders, Pastors Carl Greene and Nick Kersten support them with prayer, guidance and encouragement. They are joined by so many other dedicated leaders – outreach, Awana, Collision, prayer, communications, property …..

This month – pastor appreciation month – let us lift up our pastors and leaders –

Father, for our current pastors and leaders, we ask that you:

  • Keep their eyes focused on Jesus!
  • Let them rely on you and not on their own strength or understanding
  • Grant them wisdom – let every step they take be guided by you
  • Give them humility and the heart of a servant
  • Let them not grow weary in doing good
  • Bless their families with unity and love
  • Meet their every need – financial, emotional and spiritual
  • Strengthen their relationships with friends, family, the community and our church
  • Continually grow their trust in you
  • Encourage them in their struggles and sufferings
  • Give them boldness in proclaiming your truth

Not only are we already blessed with amazing leadership, we can also see God preparing the next generation(s) of leaders. We pray for the future leadership of our church.

LORD God, give our future leaders:

  • An ever-growing understanding of JESUS as the only way to salvation
  • Conviction of SIN, leading to repentance and a commitment to righteous living
  • Love for your WORD and the discipline to study, memorize and apply it
  • Opportunities for training and understanding of your TRUTH
  • A supernatural LOVE for God and LOVE for people
  • Guidance in the next steps to take in following you and serving your church

May our 2021 conference verse (1 Peter 5:10) resound in the lives of our present and future leaders as God himself restores, confirms and establishes them.

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

Let them be vibrant examples of your goodness as they respond by faith to life’s ups and downs. May your glory be revealed in the leadership of our church! May it be a blessing to us and to our community – a shining beacon to draw unbelievers into your kingdom!
