November Prayer Focus: Give Thanks to God
27 Oct 2022, by Newsletter inEvery good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. – James 1:17
God blesses us with so many good and perfect gifts: Life. Salvation. His Word. His Spirit. His mercy and love. His church. Our families. Our daily bread. Hearts to respond to His love.
As we approach our thanks-giving celebration, let’s shift our focus from the gifts to the giver and meditate on WHO we are thankful TO rather than WHAT we are thankful FOR.
As the redeemed, we are thankful TO God.
GOD. Our LORD and SAVIOR. The CREATOR and SUSTAINER of everything.
Infinite in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth.
Eternal, unchangeable, abound-ing in loving kindness and mercy.
God, the living god, who sees and hears and acts.
God, the one true god, who seeks a vibrant, loving relationship with us.
God, our Father, who sent his Son Jesus, to die so we could live, filled with the Holy Spirit.
To you, LORD, the living God, we give our thanks, for the over-whelming blessings of our very existence, our salvation, our sanctification, and the unfailing hope of eternity with Jesus face-to-face.
To you, LORD, the one true God, we give our thanks for your continued provision for all our needs.
To you, LORD, our God, the lover of our souls, the alpha and the omega, we give our thanks for the fellowship of believers.
Amidst the busyness of the season, help us to remember you, our amazing God to whom we give thanks. Move us to pray for the many people who celebrate the feast of Thanksgiving without knowing the one who loves them and provides for them.
