Freedom from Fear verses
08 Sep 2020, by Pastor Nate inYou must hold on to this truth – the Lord your God is with you wherever you go and in whatever you face. Saturate your heart and mind with what God says in his Word. Listen to just some of the ways that the Lord has told his people not to fear – all of them coming back to the truth that God is with them.
Deuteronomy 3:22, “You shall not fear them, for it is the Lord your God who fights for you.”
Psalm 34:4, “I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”
Psalm 91:1-6, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.”
Psalm 118:6, “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Whatever it is that you fear, the Lord promises that he is there with you every time it tries to overwhelm you. He does not promise that you can avoid being afraid, but he does promise that his power in you will be greater than the fear that seeks to tear you down.
And that is the real trick. Do we actually believe in the greatness of God? Do we actually believe that God is greater than whatever it is that causes us to be afraid? It is only when we see the Lord as the mighty and awesome God that he truly is, that our fears become very small indeed.
