What is a Disciple of Jesus?
Making disciples is our mission. It is a mission that has grabbed me (Pastor Nate) for over thirty years. Yet, having been a pastor for almost that length of time, my observation is that there is a lack of biblical understanding in the church, as a whole, as to what exactly a disciple of Jesus is.
Although many claim to know what a disciple is, by their lifestyle they show that their understanding of a disciple is not the same as the Bible’s. This series will clearly articulate the nature of a disciple of Jesus, so that, those who are his disciples may have confidence that they are, in fact, disciples of Jesus biblically and that they may have confidence as they seek to obey Jesus’ command to make disciples.
A disciple is a worshipper of God who knows, loves, serves, and shares Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Key passage: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:19-20 ESV)
